This section contains my reviews of movies that I've seen in this calendar
year. These are movies that I've seen for the first time this year, not
necessarily movies that came out in this year. These are listed in
chronological order of viewing. Inset text in blue
are the Academy Awards (winners and nominees) for the movie. Be sure to
read my movie review disclaimer info.

Upcoming movies I'm planning to see:
The following list is approximately in order of original USA theatrical release.
I make an attempt to not list films which have come to the theatres and gone,
with the exception of the "Queued up on TiVo" and "On the lookout for" sections, which are movies I intend
to see soon, but are no longer in the theatres.
The theatrical release date is given in purple.
Text in green is the movie premise, usually
stolen from upcomingmovies.com or
the IMDB.

Theatre Reviews
The biggest in San Diego (not counting the Palm Promenade). One of the
screens has a digital projector, and the sound and seating is first rate
in all. Parking is usually easy, but the ticket lines are always long,
and big movies ALWAYS sell out early here, since with 20 screens, seating
is limited.
Much smaller. Even though it's a hop skip and a jump from me, I prefer
to go to Mission Valley, mostly because the screen sizes at La Jolla are
smaller.
Parking is a bitch here, so I stay away.
I worked here in high school, mostly as a ticket cashier. Two 600+ seat
screens and two 200+ seat screens. The 600+ seat auditoriums are bloody
huge, with fabulous sound. For pure presentation, an outstanding place
to watch a movie. Basically no parking, and the seating is (or was)
so-so.
Right around the corner from where I lived -- as a sister theatre of the
Galaxy, I was on occasion sent to the Coronet to work. It's got one
screen, seating over 1300, making it the largest movie auditorium in
Northern California. It was the first theatre in California to debut
Star Wars in 1977. On presentation, this place is epic. The screen is
huge, the audio excellent, and there's nothing like watching a highly
anticipated movie on Opening Night with a thousand other people. I'll
never forget watching The Fugitive at the Coronet on Opening Night
in a packed house. The train wreck early in the movie was fantastic in
that theatre -- it was bone rattling. When it was all over, the whole
crowd cheered madly. Wow.
Movie miscellaneous
is by far and away the coolest site on the internet.
(Note: Bill Wood's grading scale is pretty well in line with my own,
while Travis Kowalski, in my opinion, has overinflated grades for his
movies, and doesn't have enough granularity in his grading system. You
know, he's entitled to his opinion, blah blah blah.)
Not being updated. No longer in existence.
